Here are six tips that will help you lose that belly fat that’s been bugging you for months or even years. Not only is belly fat not aesthetically pleasing, but it has been scientifically linked to many health problems including diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The good news is that losing stomach fat and getting ripped six pack abs is not as hard as most people think.

Sleep. Lack of sleep can affect your hormone production, affecting your cortisol levels that cause insulin sensitivity, big reason for belly fat. Getting enough sleep every night is one of the best things you can do for your body shaping goals.

Squat. The back squat requires the use of largest muscle group in the body the legs. The core will also work hard during heavy squats at preventing you from collapsing under the weight. Try a 2-3 sets of barbell back squats with a weight that you can handle for 20 repetitions. This will force you to burn fat!

Vitamin C. Asides from Vitamin C being helpful during cold season, it is a key ingredient for making Carnitine - the compound used by the body to use fat as a fuel helping you in the fat burning process.

Water. Sipping water throughout the day will make you feel fuller and you’ll be less likely to drink a bottle of juice or soda. Try it for a week and feel the difference. Drink up!

Salt Intake. Over consumption of sodium makes the body retain water. As a result, this makes the abdomen appear bloated. We get enough salt from our diet without needing to add it to our food.

Fat. Fat doesn't make people fat but poor nutrition and lack of exercise does. Eating fat actually helps fat loss by keeping you feel satiated through the day. Your body won't put on fat as easily if you feed it a constant intake of healthy fats found in foods such as fish oil, avocado, nuts, and fish. Stay away from trans-fatty fats found in many processed foods.

Remember to track your progress. Stay motivated and get a flatter stomach!
